At Superior Heights Field, the White Pines Wolverines and St. Mary’s Knights wrapped up the 2025 Sault Ste. Marie High School Junior Football regular season with an action-packed contest that saw the Knights’ offense surge to a decisive victory.
White Pines opened the scoring early when Lucien Talda-Chillman broke free for a touchdown at 9:27 of the first quarter, giving the Wolverines a 6–0 lead. However, the Knights quickly responded. Adam Provenzano tied the game 6–6 with a 27-yard touchdown run at 3:15 of the quarter, setting the tone for what became a dominant performance by St. Mary’s.
Provenzano struck again just 25 seconds into the second quarter, this time from 24 yards out, and with William Watts converting the extra point, the Knights took a 13–6 lead. Provenzano wasn’t finished—his third touchdown of the night came on a 33-yard carry midway through the quarter to extend the lead to 20–6 after another Watts convert.
The Knights’ defense got in on the scoring when #58 intercepted a pass and returned it 51 yards for a pick-six at 7:15, widening the margin to 27–6. Moments later, Vinn Volpe-Sagle added a 53-yard rushing major, and Luke Cady capitalized on a loose ball during the extra-point attempt to push the Knights ahead 34–6. With under a minute left in the half, John-Anthony Gaillonardo weaved through tackles for a 50-yard touchdown run, sending St. Mary’s into halftime with a commanding 41–6 lead.
The Knights continued their offensive showcase in the second half as Dominique Kimbuli sprinted 50 yards for another major late in the third quarter, making it 49–6 after Watts hit another conversion. The Wolverines showed resilience to the end, with Aiden Decosta capping off the regular season by hauling in an eight-yard pass from Shamus Cochrane before turning it into a 48-yard touchdown play.
With the regular season now complete, attention shifts to the Junior Football postseason, which kicks off Thursday, October 9th and Friday, October 10th at Superior Heights Field, with both semifinal matchups beginning at 4:45 p.m.
St. Mary’s will look to carry their offensive momentum into the playoffs, while White Pines turns its focus to building for the future after showing bright spots throughout the season.
