Knights Close Senior Regular Season with Dominant Win Over Wolverines

The St. Mary’s Knights wrapped up their 2025 Sault Ste. Marie High School Senior Football regular season in commanding fashion on Thursday evening, shutting out the White Pines Wolverines 47–0 under the lights at Superior Heights Field.

From the opening whistle, the Knights’ balanced attack and disciplined defense set the tone. Just under three minutes into the first quarter, kicker Micah Cuglietta opened the scoring with a booming 37-yard field goal, splitting the uprights to give St. Mary’s an early 3–0 advantage.
The Knights kept their foot on the gas, extending their lead late in the first when Jahiem Perrault-Dedier found a seam and sprinted 26 yards to the endzone for the game’s first major. Cuglietta’s convert made it 10–0 St. Mary’s with just 46 seconds remaining in the quarter.

Early in the second, quarterback Aaron Juma showed his versatility, calling his own number and breaking through the Wolverines’ defensive front on a six-yard touchdown run. After another Cuglietta extra point, the Knights built a 17–0 lead with 9:48 left before halftime.

As the Knights continued to dominate possession, Juma connected through the air with Cole Rivet, delivering a perfectly placed 17-yard touchdown pass into the Wolverines’ endzone. The play put St. Mary’s up 24–0 after Cuglietta’s reliable leg added yet another conversion with just over three minutes left in the half.

Second Half Surge
The Knights wasted no time picking up where they left off when play resumed. Only 63 seconds into the third quarter, Hunter Jackson took a handoff and burst downfield on a 35-yard touchdown run, stretching the lead to 31–0 after another successful convert from Cuglietta.

Moments later, the Knights’ special teams unit joined the scoring column. At 9:34 of the third quarter, Cuglietta caught a Wolverines kickoff near his own 20-yard line and blazed down the sideline, breaking tackles en route to a spectacular 78-yard return touchdown. Fittingly, he tacked on the extra point himself to make it 38–0.

The Wolverines continued to battle but struggled to gain traction against a relentless Knights defense that closed every lane and swarmed to the ball. Late in the third, White Pines conceded a safety with 3:45 remaining, adding two more points to the St. Mary’s total for a 40–0 advantage.

In the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, Cuglietta capped off his outstanding all-around performance with one more highlight. With 4:24 remaining, he carried the ball 33 yards through traffic for another St. Mary’s touchdown — and then calmly hit the conversion to complete the scoring at 47–0.

Total Team Effort
From start to finish, the Knights displayed a complete team performance. The offense, led by Juma’s steady leadership and the dynamic running of Perrault-Dedier, Jackson, and Cuglietta, moved the ball with balance and precision. The defense pitched a shutout, holding White Pines without a major and forcing multiple turnovers and punts.

Cuglietta was the undeniable standout of the night, contributing in every phase of the game — scoring on a field goal, a rushing touchdown, a kickoff return, and six extra points. His versatility and consistency were emblematic of the Knights’ depth and discipline.
