In Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, the Superior Heights Steelhawks hit the turf to face the White Pines Wolverines at Superior Heights on Thursday, September 23rd in week three for junior Sault Ste Marie High School Football action.
As the buzzer went for the opening quarter, Daikaden Gauthier-Long carries the ball for a 44 yard touchdown carry along the sidelines to give the Steelhawks a 6 – 0 lead. Gauthier-Long’s convert was unsuccessful keeping the lead at 6 – o for Superior Heights. With 1:55 remaining in the half, Tye Rushon rushes for a Superior Heights 20 yard run to being the Steelhawks lead to 12 – 0. Superior’s second convert attempt of the game was unsuccessful. 5:53 into the third quarter, Rushon rushes for a 12 yard touchdown carry to increase the lead to 18 – 0 at the 6:07 mark of the quarter. Quarterback Gallivan finds Gauthier-Long in the Wolverine end zone for an extra two conversion to give the Steelhawks a 20 – 0 lead.
White Pines quarterback Garrin Pine found Tristen Holzwarth with a one yard pass to score the Wolverines first touchdown in the last 24 months. White Pines two point conversion was unsuccessful at 9:44 of the fourth quarter to close the gap to 20 – 6. At 4:32 of the quarter, Keenan Boissoneau runs the ball for an 12 yard touchdown carry to bring the Wolverines with eight. Extra point on the conversion was unsuccessful for a score of 20 – 12. With time ticking down, Rushon runs for a three yard touchdown to give the Steelhawks a 26 – 12 win over the Wolverines.
White Pines coach Cody Boissoneau told Saultsports that “tonight’s performance by our players was very encouraging as a coaching staff and shows our players, coaches and fans that our hard work at practice is playing off and we are moving in the right direction. With scoring 12 points against a tough Superior Heights defence is step in the right direction for our Wolverines program. Keenan Boissoneau, Tristen Holzwarth, and Roman Wyslocky had exceptional game this evening.”

The Wolverines will now face the Korah Colts in a Thursday, September 31st contest at 6:00 p.m while the Steelhawks take on the St Mary’s Knights for a 4:45 p.m kickoff to open October 2021 on October 1st at Superior Heights.
