Yvonne Barnes, a Pre-Novice figure skater, will be representing the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club at the upcoming a Skate Ontario Sectional Series qualifying competition in Milton, Ontario on September 23-24, 2021. Yvonne is vying to qualify for the Ontario Sectional Provincial Championships being held in Milton, Ontario from November 4-7, 2021.

Yvonne has also been selected to the Skate Ontario tier 2 Training Team. The team, consisting of Pre-Novice and Novice figure skaters, will participate in three training days throughout the 2021/22 season where they will have the opportunity to participate in simulations with officials on-site.

There will also be on-ice and off-ice development activities. The first of the series will be in Brampton, Ontario, September 29.

“Going into the event I’m nervous since it is the first competition in almost 2 years since COVID 19. I’m really trying to focus on skating a clean program and aiming for a score I can build off of as I get stronger, and improve through out the rest of the season,” added Yvonne Barnes.
