Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals 2026 were held in Mont Sainte Anne, Québec, March 9-14, and eight local athletes were there to compete in a field of over 800 from across the country.
This year marked the most successful national performance for Soo Finnish Nordic in over 20 years, highlighting the continued growth and strength of the club’s race program, in only the second year under head coach Declan MacDougall.
Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club can celebrate this success as the culmination of years of community building, countless volunteer hours and dedicated families, friendships and support among teammates both at races and in the year-round training environment.
Congratulations to the hardworking athletes who competed: Myka Broad, Callie Broad, Kate De Beer, Jenna De Beer, Quin Foster, Jasper Tchir, Gwendolyn Tchir and Thomas Towle.
Special mention to Kate De Beer, who won silver in U18, and Jasper Tchir, who won bronze in U16, for the aggregate competition over three individual races that featured both sprint and long distances, classic and free techniques.
The club’s dedicated wax technicians did a superb job under uniquely challenging snow conditions.
