Knights and Colts Earn Wins to Open Week Four of Junior High School Action

In game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday, January 14th, the second-place St. Mary’s Knights (3-1) hosted the third-place Superior Heights Steelhawks (1-3) in junior boys’ high school basketball action at St. Mary’s College in Sault Ste. Marie. The matchup set the stage for a high-energy clash, with both teams eager to make a statement early in the evening. The Knights looked to maintain their strong position in the standings, while the Steelhawks aimed to bounce back from a tough start to their season.

The Knights secured a hard-fought 47-41 victory, propelled by standout performances from Nishchay Dua, who led all scorers with 15 points, and Issac Lacasse, who added 10 points. Superior Heights put up a valiant effort, with Ben George and Nik Joseph each contributing 11 points to keep their team within striking distance. Despite the Steelhawks’ resilience and ability to capitalize on defensive opportunities, St. Mary’s maintained control in critical moments, utilizing their depth and discipline to close out the win. The victory reinforced the Knights’ position as a top contender, while the Steelhawks demonstrated promise for the remainder of the season.

In game two of junior boys’ high school basketball action on Tuesday, January 14th, the undefeated Korah Colts (4-0) hosted the White Pines Wolverines (0-4) at Korah Collegiate. The matchup pitted the league’s top team against a determined but struggling Wolverines squad still searching for their first win of the season. Fans filled the gym to witness the Colts showcase their dominant play and extend their perfect record.

The Korah Colts lived up to their billing, delivering a commanding 79-20 victory over the Wolverines. Tye Turco led the charge for Korah with an impressive 24-point performance, supported by Deklyn Murdoch with 14 points and Alex Farrell with 13 points. Despite the lopsided scoreline, White Pines fought hard, with Dede Aldbi contributing 6 points, Christian Budd adding 5, and Blake Hopkins scoring 4. The Colts’ relentless offensive pressure and stifling defense proved too much for the Wolverines, solidifying Korah’s place at the top of the standings and leaving White Pines eager to regroup and improve in the games ahead.
