Marie Senior Boys’ high school basketball action on Tuesday, January 14th, the fourth-place St. Mary’s Knights (1-3) faced off against the third-place Superior Heights Steelhawks (1-3) at St. Mary’s College in a tightly contested matchup. The game was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams displaying grit and determination in an effort to climb the standings.
The Steelhawks narrowly edged out the Knights with a thrilling 46-44 victory. Dylan Wooton led the charge for Superior Heights, scoring 13 points, while Drayen Brock added 9 points to support the team’s effort. For St. Mary’s, Lucas Carriere delivered a game-high 17 points, and Nathan Barone contributed 12 points to keep the Knights in contention. Despite a strong push from St. Mary’s in the closing minutes, the Steelhawks held their composure and secured the win, moving ahead in the standings in what was an exciting game for players and fans alike.
In game two of Sault Ste. Marie senior boys’ high school basketball action on Tuesday, January 14th, the undefeated Korah Colts (4-0) faced off against the second-place White Pines Wolverines (2-2) at White Pines. The much-anticipated matchup drew a spirited crowd as the Wolverines aimed to hand the Colts their first loss of the season, while Korah looked to solidify their dominance atop the standings.
The Colts showcased their prowess, cruising to a commanding 52-24 victory over the Wolverines. Zayne Murdoch was a standout for Korah, leading all scorers with an impressive 22 points, while Gevin Grisdale added 9 points to the Colts’ tally. Despite a valiant effort by White Pines, with Nicholas Loutit contributing 13 points and Ethan McCorkell adding 9, the Wolverines struggled to break through Korah’s formidable defense. The win extended Korah’s unbeaten streak and reinforced their position as the team to beat, while the Wolverines will look to bounce back and strengthen their campaign in the coming games.

Next senior boys high school action will be on Thursday, January 16th see the St Mary’s Knights travel to Korah Collegiate to take on the Colts while the White Pines Wolverines face the Steelhawks at Superior Heights in 7:00 p.m start time.
