Wolverines, Colts, and Knights Post Wins as Boys High School Basketball Heads into Christmas Break

Sault Ste. Marie High School Boys Junior and Senior Basketball action wrapped up before the Christmas break on Thursday, December 18th, with the St. Mary’s Knights visiting the White Pines Wolverines and the Superior Heights Steelhawks traveling to Korah Collegiate to face the Colts.

In senior play, the White Pines Wolverines remained undefeated with a 63–38 win over the St. Mary’s Knights. Anthony Hunt led all scorers with 25 points, while Ethan McCorkell added 21 for the Wolverines. The Knights were paced by Isaac Lacasse with 15 points and Gabe Banlayas with 12. At Korah Collegiate, the Colts earned a much-needed 53–45 victory over the Steelhawks. Colton Jones topped the Korah scoring with 16 points, while Yehya Abbasi contributed 10. Superior Heights was led by Dylan Wootton’s 16 points, with Nic Frost adding 11.

Junior action saw the St. Mary’s Knights continue their perfect start to the season, rolling to a 53–25 victory over White Pines. Lukas Maninos led the Knights with 13 points, followed by Jakhoi Penney with 11 and Caleb Culina with nine. White Pines was led by Christian Budd with seven points, while Tristan Stadnisky-Mayhew and Landon Davison-Roussain chipped in five points apiece. At Korah Collegiate, the Colts dominated the Steelhawks 67–30 behind strong performances from Nolan Coudert, who scored 18 points, and Paxton Brodie, who added 17. Nik Joseph led Superior Heights with nine points, while Landon Coulter finished with six.

With the results, the updated standings heading into the 2025 Christmas break show White Pines atop the senior division at 4–0, followed by St. Mary’s at 2–2, with both Superior Heights and Korah sitting at 1–3. In junior standings, St. Mary’s leads the way at 4–0, Superior Heights and Korah are tied at 2–2, and White Pines remains winless at 0–4.

The 2026 portion of the Sault Ste. Marie High School Boys Junior and Senior Basketball season resumes on January 13th. The Superior Heights Steelhawks will take on the St. Mary’s Knights at St. Mary’s College, while the Korah Colts host the White Pines Wolverines at Korah Collegiate. Tipoff times are set for 5:30 p.m. for junior games and 7:00 p.m. for senior contests.
