The 2023 season promises to be one of the most exciting yet for the White Pines Wolverines senior program for the first time since 2018 after only playing two games due to shortage of players, with them possibly being the ambitious underdogs aiming to upset the status quo, and a championship chase that is wide open.

Garrin brings a “gunslinger” mentality to the QB position allowing a fearless mindset.
How does Garrin handle leadership responsibilities in this position?
Garrin is a player who will battle until the bitter end regardless of the score or situation.

Garrin’s ability to extend the play as a natural athlete, which was showcased this summer with the JV Sabercats while playing both QB and WR.

Keenen Boissoneau

Keenen gives us a well-rounded athlete who is able to be on the field on all downs/situations during a game.
What are Keenen’s strongest attributes that suit them for this position?
Mentality and ability to catch out of the backfield.
How does Keenen handle leadership responsibilities in this position?
Keenen will be expected to take on a big leadership role in 2023. We will ask him to
lead by example, and as a vocal Leader in 2023.
What do you consider to be Keenen’s most outstanding physical attribute or skill?
Violent running style allowing him to break off tacklers.
How does Keenen contribute to the Wolverines success beyond individual performance?
Keenen and his fellow Grade 12’s will have a lasting part in the program’s success by waiting out a full year instead of transferring to another school. This selfless sacrifice has allowed us to rebuild the football program.
Nashoba Moore
Position: Wide receiver (WR)

Belief in himself and his teams, and a craving for competition.

Nashoba has shown growth in his leadership skills over the last junior season (and JV Sabercats season), learning to understand when and how to address situations amongst the programs.

Nashoba has a natural sense of timing, especially in the instance of 50/50 jump balls.

Landen Syrette
Position: Defensive line (DL)

Landen’s aggressive nature on the field brings a true grit to our team.
How does Landen handle leadership responsibilities in this position?
While normally soft spoken, Landen is a player who shows his commitment and leadership through actions.
What do you consider to be Landen’s most outstanding physical attribute or skill?
Landen brings a brand of natural toughness that you can’t teach or inspire into players.
How does Landen contribute to a team’s success beyond individual performance?

Position: Linebacker (LB)

Steve’s under the radar athleticism and big hit ability provide him with the ideal LB skill set.
How does Steve handle leadership responsibilities in this position?
Steve’s willingness to jump into the game no matter the situation or spot provides a a great example of selfless commitment to our team and program.
What do you consider to be Steve’s most outstanding physical attribute or skill?
Steve brings strong physical play to our team that can generate the big moment in a game at any time.
How does Steve contribute to a team’s success beyond individual performance?
Steve contributes to our team’s success on and off the field, through his commitment to his First Nations community and our boys drum group within the school.
Tye Couture
Position: Defensive Back (DB)

Fans can expect Tye to bring a committed attitude and some position flexibility on both sides of the ball.
How does Tye impact your roster?
Tye will be fresh off his first season with the Sault Sabercats and will be looking to bring that experience with him to a young Wolverines squad.
What are Tye’s strongest attributes that suit them for this position?
Dedication to perfecting his craft and Fearless attitude.
How does Tye handle leadership responsibilities in this position?
Tye will be expected to take on a large leadership role within our program with his positive mentality. Alongside this, Tye is one of our most dedicated players we have showing a strong physical change through his off-season workouts.
What do you consider to be Tye’s most outstanding physical attribute or skill?
Tackling. Tye provides us with a true form tackler in our secondary.
How do they contribute to a team’s success beyond individual performance?
Tye and his fellow Grade 12’s will have a lasting part in the program’s success by waiting out a full year instead of transferring to another school. This selfless sacrifice has allowed us to rebuild the football program.
Wolverine coach Will Basawa told Saultsports that “The return of White Pines Football is such a positive occasion not only for our school but for our local football loop as well. White Pines is taking a step into the future with not only our athletics (NOSSA Jr Boys Basketball Champions, Gold Medalist At OFSAA Wrestling) but with our academics as well (Our state of the art and unique to White Pines Tech/Trades expansion and a reinforced commitment to our Indigenous Education sections).”
