Thunderbirds Bring Cam Boville Back Home for 2025-2026 Season

The Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) are excited to announce the addition of another hometown player to their 2025–2026 roster, with goaltender Cam Boville set to return from the United States to suit up in blue and orange.

The 6’2”, 195-pound netminder, who hails from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, returns to the Twin Soo after spending the past two seasons with the Chicago Cougars of the USPHL Premier. Boville split duties in 2023–2024, appearing in seven regular season games while posting a 3.83 goals against average (GAA) and a .904 save percentage, and added one postseason appearance that season.

In 2024–2025, Boville elevated his game and solidified his role as a starter, logging 24 regular season games for the Cougars. He finished with an impressive 3.10 GAA, a .905 save percentage, and four shutouts. In the playoffs, he added four more appearances and maintained a 4.00 GAA and a .890 save percentage.

Thunderbirds general manager Jamie Henderson praised the local product’s commitment and development, “Cam has persevered and continues to work at his draft. BK has great things to say about his desire and work ethic on and off the ice. We are excited for Cam and his family to have this opportunity.”

Cam told Saultsports that “It’s an unbelievable feeling, most guys in Junior hockey don’t get the opportunity to play in their hometown so for me to be able to do so after playing out of town for a majority of my minor hockey and Junior career is very special for both me and my family. I will bring nothing but hard work, dedication, and success to our lineup this year, I believe that the work I’ve put in and experiences I’ve had throughout my first two years of junior hockey will be of great value to the team this year, I anticipate that we will have alot of success this season and I am excited to bring my athletic and structured game to the table to help the team as much as I can.”

With Boville between the pipes, the Thunderbirds add size, composure, and a proven shot-stopper to their roster as they prepare for another competitive season in the NOJHL. Cam will work with Thunderbird goalie coach Brian Kment in the off season in preparation for a big year!
