The 2025–2026 Sault Ste. Marie Junior and Senior High School Basketball regular season came to a close on Thursday, February 5th, with a full slate of action across the city. Superior Heights hosted the Korah Colts, while the White Pines Wolverines travelled to St. Mary’s College to face the Knights, wrapping up league play and setting the stage for next week’s semifinals.
In senior action at Superior Heights, the Steelhawks delivered an impressive 67–36 victory over the Korah Colts. Superior Heights set the tempo early and steadily built their lead behind a balanced offensive effort. Nic Frost led all scorers with 18 points, while Dylan Wooton added 12 in the winning effort. Korah was paced by Jaxton Kinnunen-Iozzo with 11 points, while Yahya Abbasi chipped in eight, but the Colts were unable to keep pace as the Steelhawks pulled away in the second half.
Over at St. Mary’s College, the White Pines Wolverines capped off a perfect regular season with a 62–45 road win over the Knights. Ethan McCorkell and Garrin Pine each scored 14 points to lead the Wolverines, who controlled the game on both ends of the floor. St. Mary’s was led by Brandon Blais with 13 points, while Amare Boateng added eight, but White Pines’ depth and defensive pressure proved to be the difference.
The junior matchups were equally eventful. At Superior Heights, the Korah Colts closed their junior regular season in dominant fashion with a 70–30 win over the Steelhawks. Paxton Brodie poured in a game-high 28 points to lead Korah, while Alex Farrell added 17 and Nolan Coudert contributed 14. Superior Heights was led by Landon Coulter with 15 points, with Nik Joseph adding eight.
The tightest contest of the night came at St. Mary’s, where the White Pines Wolverines edged the Knights 53–51 in a thrilling junior showdown. Christian Budd led White Pines with 18 points, while Tristan Stadnisky-Mayhew added 13. Despite a strong effort from St. Mary’s, led by Jakhoi Penney’s 20 points and 13 from Damyen Laroulette, the Wolverines held on in the closing moments to secure the win.
With the regular season complete, the final standings are set. In senior play, the White Pines Wolverines finished a perfect 9–0 and were crowned 2026 regular season champions. Superior Heights Steelhawks claimed second place at 3–6 via point differential, followed by the Korah Colts (3–6) who held the head-to-head tiebreaker over the St. Mary’s Knights (3–6).
On the junior side, the St. Mary’s Knights finished atop the standings at 7–2 and were crowned 2026 regular season champions. The Korah Colts followed at 6–3, Superior Heights Steelhawks finished third at 4–5, and the White Pines Wolverines rounded out the standings at 1–8.
Attention now turns to the postseason, with junior and senior semifinals set for Tuesday, February 10th. Junior semifinal action will see White Pines visit St. Mary’s at 5:30 p.m., while Superior Heights travels to Korah for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. Senior semifinals will follow at 7:30 p.m., with St. Mary’s visiting White Pines and Korah heading to Superior Heights, as teams battle for a spot in the championship games.
