Coming off a 3 – 2 win over the EUP Woodducks at IDA Park on Tuesday, June 18th, the Soo 18U Black Sox headed to Rudyard, Michigan for a doubleheader on Wednesday, June 19th.
The Black Sox got on the board in the top of the first inning after Kolton Tremblay doubled, Carter Young doubled, and Connor Bruzas singled, each scoring one run. A single by Young extended the Soo lead to 4-0 in the top of the third inning.
Cole Masse earned the win for the Black Sox. They surrendered two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out five and walking none. Jaxon Clark took the loss for Rudyard Baseball Club. They went five innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out three and walking three. Michael Hapanovich tossed two innings of zero-run ball for the Soo in relief. They allowed one hit, striking out two and walking two.
Tremblay drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Black Sox with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Tremblay and Young each collected two hits for the Soo. The Black Sox had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Keyton Mousseau and Chase Cerasuolo led the team with two free passes each. Tremblay and Cerasuolo each stole multiple bases for the Soo. The Black Sox ran wild on the base paths, tallying seven stolen bases for the game. The Soo were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Zach Allard had the most chances in the field with 12.
Rudyard Baseball Club’s Ayden Paulat made the most of their chances at the plate. The number seven hitter led the team with two hits in two at bats. Kyle Postma went 1-for-2 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in. Clark and Postma each stole multiple bases for Rudyard Baseball Club.
In game two in the doubleheader as Rudyard on Wednesday, the Soo were triumphant over Rudyard Baseball Club 7-4.

Walker pitched three and one-third innings in relief for the Black Sox. They surrendered one hit and one run while striking out four and walking two. Dalton Savoir took the loss for Rudyard Baseball Club. They went four innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking three. Tremblay collected the save.

The Black Sox didn’t commit a single error in the field. Lucas DiBerardino had the most chances in the field with 13.
Tanner Baker and T Baker were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Rudyard Baseball Club. Baker, B Mitchell, and Baker each drove in one run for Rudyard Baseball Club. Savoir paced Rudyard Baseball Club with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game. Rudyard Baseball Club didn’t commit a single error in the field. Baker had the most chances in the field with six.
The Black Sox will now head over the St Mary’s River for a single game matchup against the EUP Woodducks on Tuesday, June 25th with an opening pitch at 6:00 p.m.
