Position: DB
What season are you entering with Sabercats? 3
Why is summer football so important to you?
Summer football is where my passion for the game truly started. Being part of the Cats program had a huge impact on me. The coaches don’t just teach the sport, but they build real relationships with us. That connection pushed me to grow, both in my love for the game and in my overall understanding of it
What are your personal and team-oriented goals for the upcoming 2026 OSFL season?
I believe if you ask anyone on the team this year, we are all striving for the same common goal. That’s making a push at the AAA championship. A personal goal of mine is to end this year knowing I gave it my all for my teammates beside me for potentially the last time.
What are you most looking forward to playing this season for the Sabercats?
I’m really looking forward to showing the AAA level across Ontario what Sault football is all about. We play with speed, physicality, and pride. I can’t wait to fly around the field with my teammates and make sure every team we face knows exactly what Sault Ste. Marie’s brand of football is.
For anyone that is not familiar with your play style, how would you describe yourself as a player?
The best way to describe my game is that I have a real knack for creating turnovers. Whether it’s an interception, recovering a fumble, or even blocking a punt, I always seem to find a way to get the ball. My goal is to make game changing plays and get possession back for our offence whenever I can. On top of that, I am always willing to sacrifice my body for the betterment of the team.
Who is your biggest football role model? Could be a coach, teammate?
My biggest role model is my dad (step-dad). He is the only reason I ever bother to put on the pads in the first place. He was the one who brought his love for football into my life, and I couldn’t be more grateful for him. Even if I sort of forced him to be a St Mary’s fan.
How do you stay motivated and focused during a game or practice?
I do everything for the brother beside me. Whenever I feel like I could take a play off, I remind myself that the teammate next to me is giving everything he has for the team. That pushes me to match his effort every single play and not let him, myself or the team down.
What do you think makes a great leader on the football field?
A great leader on the football field is someone who leads by example. They hold themselves to a high standard every play, whether things are going well or not. A true leader also brings energy and has that next-play mentality. Most importantly, they put the team above themselves and are willing to do whatever it takes to help the group succeed.
What is your greatest accomplishment as a football player?
I think my greatest personal accomplishment is getting two interceptions in a NOSSA semi-final game in grade 11. Nothing beats that feeling of finally feeling like I belong on a football field. My greatest accomplishments as a team, however, is making the AA finals for Cats last summer as well as making the OFSAA finals in grade 11.
What makes you the best candidate for this position that the coaches have asked you to play?
I believe I’m a strong candidate for this position because I bring a high level of effort, focus, and consistency every time I’m on the field. I take pride in doing my job properly and doing the little things right. I’m also very reliable when it comes to being in the right place at the right time and competing hard on every snap. I am willing to put my body on the line for the betterment of our team
What do you think is the most important aspect of being a member of a team?
I think the most important aspect of being a member of a team is putting the group ahead of yourself. It’s about understanding that everyone has a role and trusting that if we all do our job, the team succeeds. Being a good teammate also means showing up with effort every day and pushing your fellow teammates to be the best version of themselves, so they can push you to be the best version of yourself.
Finally, what do you think is the most important quality for a football player to possess compared to other sports? The most important quality for a football player to possess compared to other sports is mental toughness. Football is a game where every play matters, and things can change in an instant, especially in Canadian football, so you have to be able to stay locked in no matter what happens. It’s always got to be that next play mentality. Whether you make a mistake, take a hit, or face adversity, you can’t let it affect your next play. Mental toughness is what allows you to respond to adversity, it’s what helps you perform your best from start to finish.
