On Friday, October 1, the Superior Heights Steelhawks took to the turf at Superior Heights to meet the St Mary’s Knights in Sault Ste Marie High School football junior week four action.
7:07 into the opening quarter, Knight quarterback Matti Tucker fires a four yard pass into the Steelhawks endzone to find Jack McPherson to give St Mary’s a 6 – 0 lead. Candon O’Neill found the uprights for the extra point on the Knights convert for a 7 – 0 lead. At 11:14 of the second quarter, Noah Divalentin runs for a 20 yard St Mary’s touchdown to bring the lead to 13 – 0, O’Neill kicked the convert for one point to increase the lead to 14 – 0. With 38.6 seconds remaining the opening half, Koen Kurylo carries the ball for a two yard touchdown after catching a three yard pass from Knight quarterback Matti Tucker. O’Neill kicks his third convert of the game to send St Mary’s into half with a 21 – 0 lead. Brayden Luzzi rushes for a nine yard Knight major at 6:21 of the third to bring the lead to 27 – 0. O’Neill added his fourth extra point of the contest to give St Mary’s a 28 – 0 lead.
Tye Rushon carrys a 12 yard touchdown run for the Steelhawks to pull Superior Heights with 21. Steelhawks convert was unsuccessful to keep the score at 28 – 6. Kurylo scored his second touchdown of the game on a four yard caryy after Tucker throws a 14 yard pass. After O’Neill’s convert, the Knights adds to their lead to 35 – 6 with 4.5 seconds left in the third. Scoring the final major of the game was St Mary’s McPherson evading three tackles to run the ball 91 yards into the Steelhawks endzone to give the Knights a 42 – 6 win with a O’Neill convert.

The Knights are back in junior action on Thursday, October 7 against the White Pines Wolverines for a 6:00 p.m start while the Steelhawks kickoff for a Friday, October 8 against the Korah Colts for a 4:45 p.m start.
