High School Football Kicks Off in the North with COVID Safety Guidelines in Mind

Returning to its normal slot on the calendar for the first time since 2019, the 2021 junior and senior football season kicks off when it begins this week for Sault Ste Marie high school football teams that have sweated through fall camps that began August 30th.

But this Saturday, September 11th, the wait for Superior Heights, St Mary’s College, Korah Colts, and White Pines Wolverines players and coaches is over as they kick off the fall football season.

This time, the season is on time.

High school junior and senior football is back on schedule after a season missed due to COVID-19 restrictions last fall.

Weekend high school football is a tradition in many communities; a tradition suspended for more than a year due to the pandemic.

The first game of the high school season is often an opportunity for students and families to bond and support their school, but not this high school season, high school football in Sault Ste Marie will be limited to players and coaches at Superior Heights due to the concern of COVID-19 for the players and coaches of Sault Ste Marie high school sports.
