The fourth-place Soo Greyhounds (32-16-1-3) hit the road for a key three-game trip over the 2026 Family Day Weekend, opening the swing in London on Friday, February 13th against the fifth-place London Knights. The Greyhounds entered the matchup with 68 points, holding a slim three-point edge over the Knights, adding extra importance to the contest. London has held the upper hand in the season series, leading 3–2, with this game marking the final regular season meeting between the Western Conference rivals.
Both teams came in looking to rebound and build momentum. The Knights were coming off a 4–2 loss to the Guelph Storm on February 11th, while the Greyhounds arrived in London following a solid 4–2 home win over the Sudbury Wolves on the same night in Sault Ste. Marie. With playoff positioning on the line and little separating the two clubs in the standings, the opener of the Greyhounds’ road trip set the stage for a physical, playoff-style battle at Canada Life Place.
The Soo Greyhounds and London Knights needed extra time to settle their matchup, as the contest ultimately went to a shootout following a hard-fought 3–3 draw through regulation and overtime.
The Greyhounds opened the scoring at 9:41 of the first period when Travis Hayes buried his 14th goal of the season, finishing a play set up by Justin Cloutier and Christopher Brown to give Soo an early 1–0 lead. London responded late in the frame on the power play, as Jaxon Cover scored his 16th of the season at 18:08, assisted by Jesse Nurmi and Henry Brzustewicz, to send the teams to the intermission tied 1–1.
The Knights gained momentum in the second period, taking the lead at 6:08 on another power play goal. Henry Brzustewicz netted his 16th of the season with assists from Ryan Brown and Jesse Nurmi. London extended the advantage at 13:59 when Caleb Mitchell scored his fifth of the campaign, set up by Jaxon Cover and Brzustewicz, making it 3–1 heading into the third.
Soo pushed back in the final frame. At 7:26, Jeremy Martin pulled the Greyhounds within one, scoring his 23rd goal of the season off a feed from Callum Croskery. The comeback was completed at 12:37 on the power play, as Martin struck again for his 24th of the season and second of the game, tying the contest 3–3 with assists from Marco Mignosa and Justin Cloutier.
Neither side could find the winner in overtime, sending the game to a shootout. Ryan Brown and Henry Brzustewicz converted their attempts for the Knights to seal the shootout victory.
In goal, Carter George made 34 saves on 37 shots for the Greyhounds, while Sebastian Gatto stopped 35 of 38 shots to earn the win for London.
The Greyhounds now turn their attention to the road, heading to Owen Sound for a matchup against the Attack on Saturday, February 14th, with puck drop set for 7:00 p.m.
