Cam Hernden Registers Three Points in Steelhawks Win Over Wolverines

In the second game on Sunday, January 12th in the Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League doubleheader, the Superior Heights Steelhawks delivered a commanding performance to secure a 4-1 victory over the White Pines Wolverines at the John Rhodes Centre.

The Steelhawks opened the scoring in the first period, with Jake Briffet finding the back of the net to give Superior Heights an early 1-0 lead. The Wolverines answered back as Rowan Wyslocky notched his fourth goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1. However, the Steelhawks reclaimed the lead before the end of the frame, with Chad Gendron netting his sixth of the season to make it 2-1.

Superior Heights extended their advantage early in the second period. Cam Hernden fired his first goal of the season through traffic, beating White Pines goaltender Ben Potter to push the lead to 3-1. The Steelhawks continued to control the game, with Cam Knox sealing the victory in the third period by scoring his third goal of the season to cap off the 4-1 win.

The Steelhawks’ disciplined play and ability to capitalize on key opportunities proved decisive, while goaltender Jacob Renaud delivered a strong performance between the pipes to stifle the Wolverines’ offense.

The Wolverines fought hard but struggled to generate sustained pressure against a well-organized Superior Heights defense. Both teams displayed great effort, but the Steelhawks’ balanced attack and solid defensive play earned them the win and valuable momentum in the league standings.
