Huskies Fall to Colts in Girls High School Hockey Action

At the Rankin Arena, the CASS Huskies came into Sault Ste Marie for a Monday, January 13th afternoon matchup in Sault Ste Marie Girls High School Hockey League action to face the Korah Colts.

The Korah Colts edged the CASS Huskies in a tightly contested Sault Ste. Marie Girls High School Hockey League matchup on Monday afternoon at the Rankin Arena. Victoria Elliott’s two-goal performance proved to be the difference in the Colts’ 2-1 victory.

The Huskies struck first in the opening period when Kennan Shaw fired her fifth goal of the season past Korah goaltender Lilianna Sawchyn to give CASS a 1-0 lead. The Huskies’ defense and solid goaltending from Cassidy Cooke kept the Colts off the scoresheet for the remainder of the period.

Korah answered back early in the second period as Victoria Elliott found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season, tying the game at 1-1. With the clock winding down in the final frame, Elliott struck again, sinking her second goal of the game to put the Colts ahead 2-1, sealing the victory.

The Colts’ defensive unit, anchored by Sawchyn’s reliable goaltending, held off late pressure from the Huskies to secure the win. The Huskies fought valiantly, but the Colts’ resilience and Elliott’s clutch performance ultimately tipped the scales in Korah’s favor.

This hard-fought game showcased the skill and determination of both teams as they battled for positioning in the league standings. The Colts will look to build on this win in their next outing, while the Huskies will regroup and aim to bounce back strong.
