Black Sox 15U Drop Doubleheader in Cheboygan

The Soo 15U Black Sox made the trip across the St. Mary’s River on Tuesday, July 7, for a doubleheader against the Northern Michigan Patriots in Cheboygan, Michigan. Despite battling throughout both games, the Black Sox came up short, dropping both contests to the Patriots.

Soo Blacksox 15U 2026 fell to Northern Michigan Patriots 15u 7-3 on Tuesday.

The Black Sox got on the board in the top of the second inning after Damian Beharriell singled to the left side of the infield, and Ethan Pawelek flew into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.

The Patriots flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Cooper Rutledge that drove in two.

Blake Kuznicki earned the win for Northern Michigan. The hurler gave up three hits and two runs over two innings, striking out one and walking two. Beharriell took the loss for the Soo. The starting pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking three.

Luke Thorburn, Kaleb Marrelli, and Beharriell each collected one hit for the Black Sox. Beharriell, Gavin Bisaillon, and Pawelek each drove in one run for the Soo.

Daryl Hawley provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Patriots with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Rutledge, Isaac Catalano, Kuznicki, Leo Gajewski, Hawley, and Adam Woolery each collected one hit for Northern Michigan. Coleman Paquette led Northern Michigan Patriots 15u with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. The Patriots were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Kuznicki had the most chances in the field with one.

In game two of the evening in Cheboygan, the Soo fell to Northern Michigan 8-6.

The Black Sox were the first to get on the board in the second when Damian Beharriell drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Patriots jumped into the lead in the top of the third when Parker Konieczny singled, scoring two runs, and Adam Woolery grounded out, scoring one run.

Coleman Paquette earned the win for Northern Michigan. The starter gave up four hits and six runs (five earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking four. Gavin Bisaillon took the loss for the  Black Sox. The starting pitcher went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Luke Thorburn and Noah D’Ulisse each drove in one run for the Soo. Bisaillon led the Black Sox with two hits in three at bats. Soo Blacksox 15U 2026 turned one double play in the game.

Leo Gajewski, Daryl Hawley, Konieczny, and Parker Stacy each collected one hit for Northern Michigan. Isaac Catalano and Konieczny each drove in one run for the Patriots. Paquette and Stacy each stole multiple bases for Northern Michigan. The Patriots ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game.

The Black Sox now head south to face the Renegades and Riptides on Saturday, July 11th in Muskegon, Michigan.
