algoma u thunderbirdsThe Algoma U Thunderbirds men's and women's soccer teams were back on the turf in London, Ontario in their debut weekend against the Western University Mustangs in OUA soccer action on Sunday August 31st. The men's and women's made their debut on August 30th against the Mustangs where both teams were handed a 17 – 0 loss from Western.

The Thunderbird men were handed their second loss of the weekend with a 6 – 0 loss. The Mustangs scored 2 goals in the first half and added another 4 in the second half against Algoma U.

NOJHL Thunderbirds Open Pre-Season with Ovetime Win in Elliot Lake Over Wildcats

BirdsThe Soo Thunderbirds and the Elliot Lake Wildcats hit the ice at the Centennial Arena in Elliot Lake on Saturday August 30th at 7:30 p.m. Tonight's game was the first 2014 – 2015 pre-season game for both teams.

With 51 seconds left in the first period and on a Wildcat power play, Nathan Campbell scored Elliot Lake's first goal in the inaugural game as the Wildcats with assists from Joel Kittleberger and Phil Clouthier. At the 2:18 mark of the second period, 16 year old Jacob Porco of the Soo tied the game 1 – 1 with assists from defenseman and forward Matt Caruso.

algoma u thunderbirdsThe road to the OUA continues this weekend for Algoma University, as the men's and women's soccer teams begin competing in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and Canadian Interuniversity Sport Conferences (CIS).

The teams travel to London, Ontario where they will take on the Western Mustangs. The Thunderbirds' soccer teams will be debuting in the OUA West, which includes the Mustangs, Brock Badgers, Guelph Gryphons, Laurier Golden Hawks, McMaster Marauders, Waterloo Warriors, Windsor Lancers, and York Lions.

Greyhounds Trim Roster to 29, Heading into the 2014 OHL Pre-Season

2013-14 SOO GREYHOUNDS LOGOThe Soo Greyhounds closed out training camp 2014 on August 29th with the team's Annual Luke Williams Memorial Red & White game. Team White came back to defeat Team Red by a score of 11 to 10.

Following the game, new general manager Kyle Raftis, head coach Sheldon Keefe and their accompanying staff reduced the team's active roster down to 29 players.
