On Saturday, July 5th, at Superior Heights Field, the Sault U16 Sabercats hosted the visiting Sudbury Spartans in a thrilling Ontario Summer Football League (OSFL) showdown.

The defensive battle opened with a rouge conceded by the Sabercats at 6:10 of the second quarter, putting Sudbury on the board with a 1–0 lead. Dom Quintana added the convert to stretch the lead to 8–0.

Sudbury struck again just before the half, as Quesnel found Oliver Poupre in the endzone with 10.9 seconds left. A Quintana convert that struck the upright made it 15–0, and another conceded rouge as the clock expired sent the visitors into halftime with a commanding 16–0 lead.

The Sabercats stormed back to start the third quarter. Quarterback Brett Koski connected with Marciano Cranston for a 13-yard touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion pass to Charles McInnis to cut the deficit in half. With 11:49 left in the game, Jahiem Perreault Didier powered in a two-yard run to tie the game 16–16, then added a two-point conversion on a pass from Koski.
