Today was a great day of volleyball! The 2023 Sault Ste Marie High School Girls Volleyball City Championships took place at Superior Heights in junior and senior action.
Junior
Round 1 – Korah defeated White Pines 25-17; 25-23. St. Mary’s defeated Superior Heights 25-14; 25-20
Round 2 – Korah defeated St. Mary’s 25-20; 25-23. Superior Heights defeated White Pines 25-15; 25-15
Round 3 – Korah defeated Superior Heights 25-17; 27-25. St. Mary’s defeated White Pines 25-20; 25-13
Korah ended up in first place after round robin play and played St. Mary’s in the championship game. St. Mary’s defeated Korah 2-0: 25-23, 25-11
The St. Mary’s Knights captured the junior girls league and city championship title. Both St Mary’s and the Korah Colts will be representing Sault Ste. Marie at ‘AAA’ NOSSA here in Sault Ste Marie on February 24 at Superior Heights. The Superior Heights Steelhawks will be travelling to North Bay to compete at AA NOSSA and White Pines will be travelling to Sudbury to compete at A NOSSA.
Senior
Round 1 – St. Mary’s defeated Korah 25-14; 19-25; 15-6. Superior Heights defeated Notre Dame 25-22; 25-12.
Round 2 – St. Mary’s defeated Superior Heights 22-25; 25-15; 15-11. Korah defeated Notre Dame 25-13; 25-13.
Round 3 – St. Mary’s defeated Notre Dame 25-11; 25-8. Superior Heights defeated Korah 25-21; 25-21.
The St. Mary’s Knights ended up in first place after round robin play and saw Superior Heights in the championship game. St. Mary’s defeated Superior Heights 3-1: 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, 25-16.
Both St. Mary’s and Superior Heights will be representing Sault Ste. Marie at ‘AAA’ NOSSA in Sault Ste Marie at Superior Heights on February 24th while the Korah Colts are travelling to North Bay to compete in ‘AA’ NOSSA. White Pines is travelling to Sudbury for A NOSSA and École Notre-Dame-du-Sault Voyageurs will be competing at ‘B’ NOSSA.
