U18 Greyhound coach Greg Brazeau told Saultsports that “we had great leadership throughout the weekend by the Veteran players, and it was contagious through the entire lineup. Our two goalies, Emily Hansen and Sara Boston, were at their best every game, and made some huge saves for us. The line of Brooke Brazeau, Alexis Armitage and Haley Howe led the way offensively, and the others followed and contributed with some timely goals and great efforts. Kylie Schryer and Martina Pucci played their best hockey of the season, and contributed with some big goals, which was huge for us. Our Defense, despite being short was on top on their games, once again great leadership by our veteran girls Avery Tangie and Camille Venn, along with Summer Bissaillion, Aliya Rowe, and Sammy Guido. They really had a solid weekend moving pucks and bodies for us. Very pleased and pretty optimistic that this team will contend at the Provincial championships next month. Very enjoyable weekend.”
“Former Greyhound great Graeme Bonar made a stop to see the Hounds play our opener against Peterboro, and I thought he really inspired the team with a great talk and kept in con with us all weekend showing huge support for the girls. They absolutely loved that, and I can’t thank him enough for that,” said Brazeau.
Next up for the Soo U18AA Greyhounds will be against Sault College Cougars on Tuesday, March 22nd at the Rankin in a 9:00 p.m puck drop as they prepare for the OWHA Provincials in Mississauga from April 7 – 10 in Toronto, Ontario.
