In Timmins, Ontario over the March 18 – 20 weekend at Archie Dillion Sportsplex Sudbury Timberwolves, Timmins North Stars, Nickel City Jr Sons, and the Soo Jr Greyhounds will take part in the 2022 Northern Ontario Hockey Association U12 AA Tournament of Championship.

The U12AA teams are participating in a fundraiser at the Tournament of Champions in Timmins with each goal the team scores, each family will donate money that will go towards humanitarian relief efforts for the Ukraine.

Soo U12 Greyhound coach Keith Coletti told Saultsports that “the fundraiser idea was brought to me the other day by a parent of the Nickle City team. Then at the end of this playoff weekend all team from our division will make one donation on behalf of the U12 AA teams.”

“Anytime you can support a worthy cause and teach a lesson of giving back and how fortunate they are to be able to help others in need out doing what they love has fired them up. The players are at an age where they are asking a lot of questions about what is going on and it has motivated them to do their best because they want to help out. And what better way to help out then playing hockey,” added Coletti.
