Soo Black Sox 18U Open 2021 Summer on the Road with a 2-1-1 Record

The Soo 18U Black Sox hit the road for the first time for a four-game road trip against the Milton Mets and Cambridge Cubs over the August 7 – 9 weekend. The Soo 18U Black Sox have only had the chance so far this summer to play local teams in Sault Ste Marie to prepare their competitive opponents for the month of August 2021.

Coach Mike Lebel told Saultsports that “Saturday we lost to the Milton Mets 4 – 3 with the Mets scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh for the walk off win.”

“These are the first truly competitive games for these players since August of 2019, literally two years ago. The coaching staff was happy with their overall performance.  Moving forward we are looking to get better in every area and that will come with more game experience and more reps in practice. One area that we are looking to improve is for our pitching staff to throw more strikes and thus avoid walking too many batters,” added Lebel.
