After coming off a rain shortened weekend in Sudbury over the July 24 – 25 with a 1 – 1 record with the Sudbury Shamrocks, the (7-3) Soo 9U Black Sox were back on the road to head east to Valley East on August 7 and 8 to meet their host the Valley East Jr Voyageurs in a four-game weekend series.

Coach Steve McLeod told Saultsports that “on Saturday we were able to hit and score runs consistently. We played well defensively and kept errors to a minimum. On Sunday we struggled to put runs on the board every inning and didn’t make the plays when we could have. In order to be successful moving forward we need to continue to hit consistently and make defensive plays when we have the opportunity. We need to find a way to limit the oppositions’ big run innings.”

The Soo Black Sox 9U program takes their 9-5 record into the August 21 – 22 weekend at home in Sault Ste Marie against the visiting Valley East Jr Voyageurs in a four-game weekend series with opening pitches at 1:00 p.m/3:30 p.m (August 21) and 10:00 a.m/12:30 p.m (August 22) at Sinclair Yards.
