Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey Programs Battle Hard on Day One at 2025 Saint Michael Mustangs Invitational

In Niagara Falls, Ontario, the Korah Colts, Superior Heights Steelhawks, and White Pines Wolverines joined top high school hockey programs from across Ontario, as well as teams from Pennsylvania, Manitoba, and Ohio, at the 2025 Saint Michael Mustangs Invitational Varsity Boys Hockey Tournament. Running from Thursday, December 11th to Saturday, December 13th, the event kicked off with a full slate of competitive matchups that set the tone for an intense three days of action on the ice.

The opening day saw local representation in several key games. The Korah Colts began their tournament with a 3–1 loss to the Michael Power Trojans of Etobicoke at 9:00 a.m., while the St. Mary’s Knights edged out the GFESS Gryphons of Fort Erie with a 2–1 victory at the same time. Later in the morning, the White Pines Wolverines fell 3–1 to the St. Mary’s Crusaders of Hamilton. Korah bounced back strongly in their second game, defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from Welland by a score of 6–2 at 1:15 p.m. The Knights followed with a hard-fought 2–2 draw against the Lakeshore Gators of Port Colborne. White Pines wrapped up their day with a tough 6–1 loss to the Denis Morris Reds of St. Catharines at 2:20 p.m.

Day two promises another busy schedule for Sault Ste. Marie’s trio of teams. The Korah Colts will face Sir Winston Churchill of St. Catharines at 7:40 a.m. on Friday, December 12th, while the White Pines Wolverines take on the host St. Michael Mustangs at the same time. The St. Mary’s Knights will open their second-day slate with a 10:20 a.m. matchup against the Sherwood Saints of Hamilton. With plenty of hockey still to be played, all three local teams look to build momentum and make their mark in one of the province’s premier high school tournaments.
