The Sault Ste. Marie Girls High School Hockey League is set to drop the puck on the 2025–2026 season on Wednesday, November 19th, as the St. Mary’s Knights take on the Superior Heights Steelhawks at Rankin Arena. The opening matchup, scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start, will officially kick off another exciting season of high school girls hockey action in the Soo, with plenty of skill, speed, and school spirit expected to be on display. Fans, classmates, and families will once again pack the stands to cheer on the city’s talented young athletes as they chase early-season bragging rights.
This year’s league will feature teams representing four area schools — the Superior Heights Steelhawks, Korah Colts, St. Mary’s Knights, and CASS Huskies from Desbarats, Ontario. Each high school hockey program will be looking to make its mark over the coming months, with rivalries sure to intensify as the season progresses. The 2025–2026 campaign promises to bring competitive hockey, strong goaltending, and emerging stars to the forefront as these student-athletes showcase their passion for the game and pride in their schools.
