Name: Nashoba Moore
Number: 2
High School: White Pines
Position: DB
What season are you entering with Sabercats? Fifth
Why is summer football so important to you?
Summer football is important to me because I get the chance to showcase my abilities and compete against some of the best players from other cities in the province. It also allows me to represent my city proudly and a chance to add another trophy to our city’s trophy case.
What are your personal and team-oriented goals for the upcoming 2026 OSFL season?
My personal goal is to become one of the best DB’s in the province and to prove it by becoming an OSFL all-star. Something I would like to see my team do is play for a OSFL title and win the title game.
What are you most looking forward to playing this season for the Sabercats?
I am most excited to play DB for the Sabercats this year. I am most excited because we got bumped up to AAA this year and it will let me compete against, and matchup with some of the best WRs in Ontario.
For anyone that is not familiar with your play style, how would you describe yourself as a player?
I would describe myself as a physical yet patient player who can be put in a variety of positions throughout the game wherever I am needed. As a DB, I am very patient on reads and aggressive in coverage, and can come down field and make tackles.
Who is your biggest football role model? Could be a coach, teammate?
My biggest football role models are all of my White Pines coaches that have taught me everything I know. I have been with them for 5 years and have gotten to learn a lot about the game from all of their experiences and perspectives. Specifically Baz, Dipo, Reid, Batman, JRob and Fecteau.
How do you stay motivated and focused during a game or practice?
I stay motivated by acknowledging that my coaches are using their own free time to prepare us for a game even when they don’t have to. I stay motivated in games because I and everyone on my team worked hard the week before preparing, and that it would be unfair to them and everyone watching to not give 100% effort.
What do you think makes a great leader on the football field?
A great leader is someone who keeps everyone dialed in and focused on winning the game. It can range from keeping everyone focused pregame, helping remind a teammate of a certain play, or keeping someone level headed and confident if they mess something up and feel down.
What is your greatest accomplishment as a football player?
I would say being a league all-star every year for HS, being All-Ontario HM, or being a team MVP twice. Another thing I would add is being one of a few White Pines receivers to win the Rocky DiPietro Trophy, and I won it twice in a row.
What makes you the best candidate for this position that the coaches have asked you to play?
I think my combination of physical and mental attributes contribute to me being the best candidate for my position. I have a good frame, a learning mindset, and great speed for a DB, and can be used anywhere from Corner-Half-Safety. I also can understand plays well and be disciplined in order to make sure a play is run smoothly and properly.
What do you think is the most important aspect of being a member of a team?
I think the most important aspect is respect. When you’re respectful to your teammates, opponents, referees, and coaches, it allows for a bond and good relationship throughout the season, and can grow chemistry within the team.
Finally, what do you think is the most important quality for a football player to possess compared to other sports?
I think the most important quality is control. You can have no control and go out there and hurt somebody if you aren’t careful, or mouth off to a ref and be penalized/kicked out and hurt your team. When you have control it lets you play the game without any issues and lets you be a good teammate.
