Sault Ringette Club Celebrates Excellence, Leadership, and Community at 2026 Awards Ceremony

The Sault Ringette Club (SRC) proudly closed out a remarkable season with a two-part year-end celebration that highlighted the heart, talent, and spirit of its athletes and volunteers. Festivities began with a FUN1 and FUN2 banquet focused on the club’s youngest players, followed by a formal awards evening recognizing excellence across all older divisions.

The evening was a powerful tribute to the individuals who define SRC on the ice, behind the bench, and throughout the community. From record-breaking nominations to the introduction of a meaningful new legacy award, the ceremony underscored the strength and unity of ringette in Sault Ste. Marie.

Bill Claringbold Volunteer Award: Bruce Graham
The club’s highest volunteer honour, the Bill Claringbold Volunteer Award, recognizes an individual whose impact goes far beyond participation, someone who truly elevates the sport. This year, an extraordinary 50 nominations were submitted for one individual, a testament to the profound influence of Bruce Graham.

Bruce’s dedication is nothing short of legendary. He remains a constant and uplifting presence at the rink. A former Club President, Bruce guided SRC through pivotal periods of growth with steady leadership and vision. Known for his infectious laugh and ability to connect with every athlete, especially those who need it most, he inspires confidence, a sense of belonging, and joy. As one nominator shared, “Without Bruce’s years of service, I don’t think we would still have a ringette club in the Sault.”

Inaugural Wayne Spencer Referee Award: Caylx Stewart
In a memorable and emotional moment, SRC introduced the inaugural Wayne Spencer Referee Award, honouring the legacy of the club’s founding Referee-in-Chief. With Wayne Spencer in attendance to present the award, Caylx Stewart was recognized as the first-ever recipient.

This award celebrates officials who see the game as more than competition—those who build character, foster respect, and strengthen community. Caylx exemplifies these values, earning the trust of players and the respect of coaches while leaving a lasting, positive impact on the game.

Kiwanis Community Builder Award: Julie Stocks
The Kiwanis Community Builder Award recognizes a FUN1 or FUN2 volunteer who brings the Kiwanis mission—improving the world one child and one community at a time—to life at the rink.

The inaugural recipient, Julie Stocks, has dedicated countless hours to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and joyful environment for the club’s youngest athletes. Her commitment ensures that every child’s first experience in ringette is positive and memorable.

FUN3 Rotary North “Service Above Self” Award: Cali Wilsack
Presented to a FUN3 player who embodies integrity, kindness, and community spirit, the Rotary North “Service Above Self” Award celebrates the values at the core of the game.

This year’s recipient, Cali Wilsak, has demonstrated exceptional character both on and off the ice, setting an inspiring example for her peers.
