The excitement is building as student‑athletes from across Northern Ontario converge on Sault Ste. Marie this week for the 2026 NOSSA Basketball Championships. Teams from Sault Ste. Marie, Espanola, Elliot Lake, Sudbury, and North Bay will compete in two major events — NOSSA “A” mid‑week, followed by NOSSA “AA/AAA” on the weekend.
NOSSA “A” Championships – Wednesday & Thursday (White Pines)
White Pines Collegiate will host the “A” division tournament beginning Wednesday, February 25 at 5:30 p.m and continuing through Thursday. Local fans will be treated to two championship matchups on Thursday:
- Junior Championship: 3:00 p.m
- Senior Championship: 4:30 p.m
These games will determine the A‑division representatives heading into OFSAA competition, with many teams looking to cap off their season with a banner win.
NOSSA “AA/AAA” Championships – Friday & Saturday
The city will then shift into high gear as the AA/AAA divisions take over beginning at 1:00 p.m on Friday, February 27 and ending with semi-final and finals on Saturday, with games split between two venues:
Junior Games: St. Mary’s College
Senior Games: Superior Heights Collegiate & Vocational School
Championship Saturday will take place entirely at Superior Heights:
- Junior Championship: 2:00 p.m (Superior Heights)
- Senior Championship: 4:00 p.m (Superior Heights)
With teams from the region’s largest schools battling for Northern Ontario supremacy, fans can expect fast‑paced, high‑energy basketball all weekend.
