The Korah Colts and St Mary’s Knights closed out week six of the high school junior football action in Sault Ste Marie at Superior Heights on Friday, October 8th.
Just before the half mark of the opening quarter, Nathan Higham intercepts an Alex Hayes pass to rush 30 yards for the Colts to give Korah a 6 – 0 lead at 6:20 of the first. Korah quarterback Brycen Sloss goes to the air above all St Mary’s defenders with a 23 yard pass to Markeese Strawbridge and two yard carry at 3:17 of the first to bring the lead to 13 – 0 after Nixon Blair finds the uprights for a Korah convert. 1:48 into the third quarter, St Mary’s Noah Boyer clears the way for quarterback Alex Hayes for a six yard Knights major to bring St Mary’s within seven after a Amare Valente-Boateng successful convert. Strawbridge catches a one handed 20 yard pass from Korah quarterback Alex Varpio at 2:52 of the third to give the Colts a 20 – 7 lead with a Nixon Blair convert. Ethan Serrao runs for one yard touchdown for the Colts at 7:01 of the fourth. Blair increases the lead to 27 – 7 after finding the uprights on the Korah convert. After a Colt touchdown seven yard carry by Korah’s Peyton Melchoirre and a Blair convert the Colts hand the Knights a 33 – 7 loss heading into the final week of the junior high school football season.
The Colts will open up week seven junior week on October 13th against the White Pines Wolverines at 5:45 p.m followed by the Knights facing the Superior Heights Steelhawks at 4:45 p.m on Friday, October 14th. Watch high school live and on-demand on Saultsports TV.
