Rorke Applebee (Chateauguay, Que.) has been selected as the CCHA’s Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, January 13th.
Applebee helped lead the Lakers to a weekend split at Michigan Tech after only allowing three goals for the entirety of the weekend. On Friday, he recorded 37 saves, including every shot he faced after going down 0-2 as LSSU went on to come back with four-unanswered tallies. Then on Saturday, despite suffering the loss between the pipes, Applebee did all that he could to give his team a chance, holding the Huskies scoreless for the first two periods before allowing the only goal scored the entire night early in the third, totaling 30 saves in the game.
On the weekend, Applebee posted a save percentage of .957 and a goals-against average of 1.51, both of which were the top marks in the league.
Applebee and the Lakers return to action on Friday, January 17th when they host St. Thomas in Taffy Abel Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
