High School Boys Basketball 2023 MVP Nominees Announced

The Sault Ste. Marie High School Boys Basketball City finals are set. Both games will be played at Superior Heights this Friday, February 17th. Tip off for the Juniors is 5:30 p.m, while the seniors will tip off at 7:30 p.m.

Junior Results
It will be a battle between the top two teams in the junior loop as the White Pines Wolverines look to knock off the undefeated Korah Colts.

Most Valuable Player Nominees: The following players have been nominated from their respective coaches/teams. The winner will be announced at the city championships immediately following the junior boy’s game.

Nathan Higham (Korah), Brayden Richard (Superior Heights), Anthony Niro (St. Mary’s), Ethan McCorkell (White Pines)

Senior Results
In the senior loop, St. Mary’s will be looking to keep their undefeated season intact as they face the third place Superior Heights Steelhawks. The Steelhawks are coming off what many would call a semi-final upset upending second place Korah 53-32. This Friday, they will be looking to knock of the reigning league champion Knights. Tip Off for the senior tilt will be at 7:30 p.m.

League All Stars: The league will recognize five all stars for their performance this season, as selected by their coaches/teams. Winners will be announced immediately following the senior championship game.

League’s Most Valuable Player: The following players have been nominated from their respective school/teams. The winner will be recognized after the senior championship game.

Jacob Brown (Korah), Justin Shuttleworth (Superior Heights), Reese Martin (St. Mary’s), Dimos Migkos (White Pines)

The Sault Ste. Marie Officials Association will also be recognizing a player from the league who best exemplifies sportsmanship with ability with the presentation of the John Marasco Trophy .
