The third place (24-14-1-1) Soo Greyhounds hit I-75 to open a two-game road trip on Thursday, January 15th, stopping in Sarnia for a West Division clash with the fifth place (13-23-4-1) Sting. Entering the matchup, the Greyhounds had already handled Sarnia three times during the 2025–2026 regular season and looked to keep that perfect record intact.

Soo wasted little time getting on the board in the opening period. At 14:47, Brady Smith opened the scoring, netting his eighth goal of the season off a setup from Callum Croskery to give the Greyhounds a 1–0 lead. The Sting responded late in the frame, evening the score at 1–1 when Jordan Bax scored at 16:45, assisted by Cameron Aucoin and Jacob Reese.

The Greyhounds regained control in the second period, capitalizing on sustained offensive pressure. At 13:53, Jeremy Martin snapped home his 13th goal of the season, finishing a play started by Marco Mignosa and Brodie McConnell-Barker, restoring Soo’s lead at 2–1 heading into the final period.

Soo pulled away in the third with a strong all-around effort. Just over three minutes in, Lukas Fischer made it 3–1, scoring his fifth of the season with assists from Mignosa and Quinn McKenzie. The Greyhounds struck again while shorthanded at 12:29, as Marco Mignosa forced a turnover and buried his 17th of the year, with Fischer picking up the lone assist.

Sarnia answered on the power play at 14:12 when Tyler Challenger scored unassisted to cut the deficit to 4–2, but any hopes of a late comeback were sealed when Christopher Brown fired home an empty-net goal at 18:20 for his 15th of the season.

Carter George was steady between the pipes for Soo, stopping 22 of 24 shots, while Patrick Quinlan turned aside 18 of 22 in the loss for the Sting.

With the victory, the Greyhounds improved to a perfect 4–0 record against Sarnia this season and continued their strong play on the road. Soo will now head to Guelph for the second stop of their trip, taking on the Midwest Division fourth place Storm on Friday, January 16th at the Sleeman Centre, with puck drop set for 7:07 p.m.
