With just two home games remaining in the regular season, the Soo Greyhounds have officially locked in a fifth-place finish in the Western Conference and are preparing for a highly anticipated opening-round matchup against the fourth-place London Knights in the 2026 OHL Western Conference Quarter-Finals.

The Greyhounds enter the postseason with a 36-22-1-5 record, while the Knights sit slightly ahead at 39-22-4-1. The margin between the two clubs has been razor-thin all season, with just one point separating them heading into the final weekend of the 2025–2026 campaign, as London holds 83 points. Despite the close standings, the Knights claimed the regular season series 3–1, though two of those victories came via shootout, highlighting just how competitive this matchup has been. Their most recent meeting on February 13th in London saw the Greyhounds fall 4–3 in a shootout, a result that could foreshadow a tightly contested playoff series.

Offensively, the Greyhounds are led by veteran forward Marco Mignosa, who has been a driving force all season with 34 goals and 52 assists for 86 points in 63 games. Christopher Brown has also been a key contributor with 59 points in 66 games, while Quinn McKenzie rounds out the veteran core with 50 points. The Greyhounds have also seen strong contributions from their younger players, with rookie Noah Laus recording 28 points, while defensemen Callum Croskey and Harris Pangretitsch have added valuable depth on the back end.

In goal, the Soo has leaned on a solid tandem. Carter George, acquired from the Owen Sound Attack in December, has made an immediate impact with 22 wins, a 2.74 goals-against average, and four shutouts in 44 appearances. Alongside him, Landon Miller has provided consistency with 19 wins and a 2.82 GAA over 33 games, giving the Greyhounds a reliable one-two punch between the pipes heading into the postseason.

The Knights counter with a balanced and dangerous lineup of their own. Ryan Brown leads London’s veteran group with 62 points, while Henry Brzustewicz and Jaxon Cover have also been key offensive pieces. Cover, in particular, has had an impressive campaign, finishing third overall in team scoring and leading all Knights rookies with 48 points. Brady Wassilyn, acquired from the Niagara IceDogs early in the season, adds further depth with 45 points.

On the blue line, rookies Caleb Mitchell and Jacob Xu have stepped into important roles, contributing both offensively and defensively throughout the season.

In net, London features a strong goaltending duo in Sebastien Gatto and Aleksei Medvedev. Gatto has been especially effective, posting a 2.30 goals-against average and 23 wins in 36 games, while Medvedev has added 16 wins and valuable experience in 35 appearances.

With both teams closely matched in the standings, featuring balanced scoring, reliable goaltending, and a history of tight games, this quarter-final series has all the ingredients of a classic. The Greyhounds will look to use their depth and resilience to overcome the season series deficit, while the Knights aim to carry their regular season success into the playoffs. Fans can expect a fast-paced, hard-fought battle as these two Western Conference rivals collide in what promises to be one of the most exciting matchups of the opening round.
