Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced Wednesday, October 21st the has acquired 19-year old defenceman Oliver Turner via waiver claim from the Erie Otters.

“Oliver is a player we’ve continued to follow since his OHL draft year. After having his season was cut short by injury last year, we see this as a great opportunity for him to get back on track and continue to develop his game. A right-shot defenceman with his size and skating ability is something we wanted to add, and we’re confident he’ll bring a strong presence to our blue line and our room,” stated Raftis.

Originally selected by the Erie Otters in the fourth round of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, Turner is in his second season in the OHL. The Toronto, Ontario native stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 201 pounds.

“I’m super excited to be joining such a great organization. I can’t wait to meet the guys and get to work,” said Oliver.
