Colts Remain Perfect While St. Mary’s Teams Battle Through Day One at 2026 OFSAA Soccer Championships

The Korah Colts girls soccer team got off to a perfect start at the 2026 OFSAA ‘AA’ Girls Soccer Championships in Belleville, Ontario, winning both of their opening matches on Thursday, June 4th to position themselves near the top of their pool heading into championship Friday.

Korah Colts Open OFSAA With Two Victories
The Colts began tournament play against the Huntsville High School Hoyas and earned a solid 2-0 victory. Korah received goals from Amy Clement and Attiya Hernandez-Jimenez while goalkeeper Molly Gauthier turned aside every shot she faced to record the shutout.

Korah continued its strong play later in the day against Crescent Prep College of Toronto. The Colts secured a 3-1 win behind a two-goal performance from Matalyn Hojem and a single marker from Calie Schwarz. Gauthier once again provided a strong presence in goal as Korah completed a perfect opening day with six points.

The undefeated Colts will return to action on Friday, June 5th, with a pair of important pool-play contests. Korah will face the Mary Ward Wolverines at 9:30 a.m before taking on the Holy Trinity Titans from Courtice at 2:00 p.m.

St. Mary’s Girls Earn Split on Opening Day
Meanwhile, at the OFSAA ‘AAA’ Girls Soccer Championships in Kitchener, the St. Mary’s College Knights experienced mixed results during their opening day of competition.

The Knights opened the tournament against the powerful St. Thomas Aquinas Titans from Toronto. Despite a determined effort from goalkeeper Thea Iachetta, St. Mary’s fell by a 6-0 score.

The Knights responded well in their second match of the day against the host Resurrection CSS Phoenix. Marissa Levesque scored the lone goal for St. Mary’s as the teams battled to a 1-1 draw. Iachetta was once again solid between the posts as the Knights collected an important point in the standings.

St. Mary’s will continue tournament play on Friday with a 9:30 a.m matchup against the St. Thomas of Villanova Wildcats before closing out pool play at 12:00 p.m. against the Havergal College Gators.

St. Mary’s Boys Looking to Bounce Back
The St. Mary’s College Knights boys team opened play at the OFSAA ‘AAA’ Boys Soccer Championships in Grimsby on Thursday and will be looking for a strong finish after dropping both of their opening contests.

The Knights began their tournament against Louis-Riel ESP Les Rebelles from Ottawa and were defeated 2-0.

In their second match, St. Mary’s faced the Father Leo J. Austin Wildcats from Whitby. The Knights battled throughout the contest and received goals from Amare Boateng and Micah Cuglietta, but ultimately fell 5-2. Goalkeeper Mac Fenchak handled duties in net for St. Mary’s.

The boys Knights return to action on Friday morning against the Mother Teresa Spartans at 8:00 a.m. before wrapping up pool play at 12:30 p.m against Holy Names CHS Knights.

Day Two Ahead
With two victories already secured, the Korah Colts have placed themselves in an excellent position heading into the second day of competition and will look to continue their unbeaten run. Meanwhile, both St. Mary’s squads will aim to finish strong and improve their standings as OFSAA championship play continues across Ontario.
