Colts Edge Knights in Defensive Junior Battle at Superior Heights Field

At Superior Heights Field in Sault Ste. Marie, two unbeaten teams went head-to-head on Friday, September 12th, as the (1-0) Korah Colts squared off against the (1-0) St. Mary’s Knights in High School Junior football action. Both squads entered the contest looking to build on dominant week one victories, with Korah coming off a 41-6 win over the White Pines Wolverines and St. Mary’s fresh off a 38-0 shutout against the Superior Heights Steelhawks.

In a game defined by defense and field position, it was the Colts who found a breakthrough late in the opening half. With just 94 seconds remaining before halftime, quarterback Ethan Brewer connected on a 22-yard strike to James Yule, setting up a four-yard touchdown carry to put Korah on the board. Kicker Nolan Coudert converted the extra point to extend the lead to 7-0 heading into the break.

The second half saw both defenses dig in, with scoring chances limited on both sides. The only points after halftime came with 7:14 left in the fourth quarter, when the Colts conceded a safety, giving the Knights two points and narrowing the score to 7-2. Despite late pressure from St. Mary’s, Korah held strong to secure the hard-fought victory and improve to 2-0 on the season.

Looking ahead, the Colts will return to action on Thursday, September 18th, when they face the Superior Heights Steelhawks. The Knights will try to bounce back the following day, Friday, September 19th, against the White Pines Wolverines. Both games are set for 4:45 p.m. kickoffs at Superior Heights Field.
