Day two of the 2025 Saint Michael Mustangs Invitational Varsity Boys Hockey Tournament saw three Sault Ste. Marie high school hockey programs—the Superior Heights Steelhawks, White Pines Wolverines, and Korah Colts—each play two games on Friday, December 12th in Niagara Falls, Ontario, as the round-robin portion of the tournament wrapped up.
The day began early with the Korah Colts taking on Sir Winston Churchill of St. Catharines at 7:40 a.m., with the Saints edging the Colts by a 6–3 final. At the same time, host St. Michael Mustangs skated past the White Pines Wolverines 4–1, handing White Pines their first setback of the tournament. Later in the morning, the St. Mary’s Knights picked up a hard-fought 3–2 win over the Sherwood Saints of Hamilton at 10:20 a.m., showcasing strong defensive play and timely scoring.
Momentum continued for the Korah Colts at 11:30 a.m. as they rebounded with an impressive 3–2 victory over the host St. Michael Mustangs, a result that would prove crucial in the standings. White Pines returned to the ice at 12:50 p.m. but ran into a powerful Sir Winston Churchill squad, falling 8–3 in their second game of the day. The action concluded at 2:35 p.m. with the Nelson Lords of Burlington shutting out the St. Mary’s Knights 2–0 in a tightly contested matchup.
When the dust settled after the round robin, the seventh-ranked Korah Colts emerged as the lone Sault Ste. Marie program to advance to the playoff round. Korah was set to hit the ice again on Saturday, December 12th, earning a 7:45 a.m quarter-final matchup against the second-ranked St Edward Eagles of Lakewood, Ohio, keeping Sault Ste. Marie represented as the tournament moved into the elimination stage.
