Black Sox 18U Goes Down On Final Play Against Mt Pleasant Post 110 to Round Out Weekend

After a 4 – 2 loss to the Gladwin Lightning Post 171 on Friday, June 17th, the Soo 18U Black Sox took to the field for a doubleheader Saturday, June 18th with a 9:30 a.m contest against the Rosebush Post 383 and rounding out the weekend with a 4:30 p.m opening pitch on Saturday facing the Mt Pleasant Post 110.

Saturday, June 18th (4:30 p.m)
It came down to the last play, but Black Sox 18U was on the wrong end of a 12-11 defeat to Mt Pleasant Post 110 A on Saturday. The game was tied at 11 with Mt Pleasant Post 110 A batting in the bottom of the seventh when Pieratt singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Despite the loss, Black Sox 18U did collect 17 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Mt Pleasant Post 110 A had 13 hits on the way to victory.

Black Sox 18U got things moving in the first inning, when Keyton Mousseau doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Black Sox 18U scored five runs in the sixth inning. Carter Young, Ty Beaupre, Connor Bruzas, and Cole Masse each had RBIs in the big inning.

Wiggins took the win for Mt Pleasant Post 110 A. The hurler lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out two. Zeen threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Masse took the loss for Black Sox 18U. The righthander allowed seven hits and six runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Owen Daynard started the game for Black Sox 18U. The bulldog allowed three hits and six runs over three innings, striking out one Pieratt started the game for Mt Pleasant Post 110 A. Pieratt allowed six hits and five runs over one inning, walking one Black Sox 18U scattered 17 hits in the game. Michael Hapanovich, Young, Bruzas, Beaupre, Matthew Forsey, and Mousseau all had multiple hits for Black Sox 18U. Young and Hapanovich each collected three hits to lead Black Sox 18U.

Mt Pleasant Post 110 A tallied 13 hits in the game. Hacker, Browne, Chiodini, and Holliday all managed multiple hits for Mt Pleasant Post 110 A. Mt Pleasant Post 110 A didn’t commit a single error in the field. Holliday had five chances in the field, the most on the team.

Saturday, June 18th (9:30 a.m)
Rosebush Post 383 scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Rosebush Post 383 came thanks to singles by Bebe and Mitchell and by Dole.

Dole was credited with the victory for Rosebush Post 383. The fireballer went three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out four and walking zero. Coffland threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Connor Bruzas took the loss for Black Sox 18U. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits.

Ty Beaupre went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Black Sox 18U in hits.

Rosebush Post 383 had 16 hits in the game. Bebe, Hutchins, Hovey, Neubecker, and Lynch each managed multiple hits for Rosebush Post 383. Rosebush Post 383 didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hutchins had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.

Next action for the Soo 18U Black Sox will be against the Soo Michigan Woodducks at IDA Park, Sinclair Yards on Thursday, June 30th at 6:00 p.m.
