Coming off losses at home on June 11th in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario to the Myer Riders at Superior Heights, the junior and varsity Sault Sabercats took to the road on June 18th to face the Peterborough Wolverines in Ontario Summer Football League action.
In junior football action in Peterborough, the Sabercats shutout the Wolverines in a 48 – 0 win to improve their 2022 record to 2 – 1 while the varsity Sabercats earned their first win of the season with a 29 – 10 win over Peterborough.
Coach Baz told Saultsports after the junior win that “Great game overall, our Offense is really starting to fire on all cylinders. On Defence, we really felt like we just out manned them all game, they couldn’t handle our physicality. I truly believe we are finally done shaking off that pandemic rust. We’ve got a great group of coaches, the players are getting quality development that you just can’t replicate in a workout or the gym.”
Next action for the Sabercats will be on June 25th at home at Superior Heights, the Huronia Stallions come to Sault Ste Marie for a 4:00 p.m kickoff for the juniors while the varsity Sabercats hit the field for a 1:00 p.m start against the Cornwall Wildcats.
