After a 15 – 6 win on the road in Sudbury on June 3rd over the Sudbury Spartans, the (1-0) Sault Steelers returned to action at Rocky DiPietro Field at home in Sault Ste Marie for a Northern Football Conference matchup against the visiting (0-1) Sudbury Spartans on Saturday, June 10th.
At 7:29 of the opening quarter, Steeler Alzonzo Clarke gives the Sault a 6 – 0 lead with a one yard carry. Brady kicked an extra point convert to bring the lead to 7 – 0. Scoring their only point for game for the Spartans with a rouge with 16.9 seconds remaining in the half to send the game into half 7 – 1. With 7.4 seconds left in the third quarter, Brady Smith kicks the final points of Saturday’s contest with a 34 yard field goal to give the Steelers a 10 – 1 win over Sudbury. Steve Hiiemma had a total of 35 yards on 13 carries while Clarke ran 15 times for a total of 95 yards in the Sault’s second straight win over the Spartans. Sault quarterback Ryan Yost finished the game with 10 successful passes on 25 pass attempts for 98 yards total. Yost found Brock Hoover with four passes for a total of 54 yards in the 10 – 1 win.

Next action for the (2-0) Steelers will be on the road in Sarnia when they meet the Imperials who are looking for their first win of the season on June 17th.
