In week five of Sault Ste. Marie High School Boys Volleyball action, the Notre Dame Voyageurs and White Pines Wolverines both earned key victories on Monday, October 20th. The Voyageurs hosted the St. Mary’s Knights in a highly competitive five-set showdown, while the Wolverines welcomed the Korah Colts for a straight-sets sweep on their home court.
At Notre Dame, the Voyageurs battled to a 3-2 win over the Knights in a back-and-forth contest that kept fans on their feet. Notre Dame came out strong with 25-15 and 25-20 wins in the opening sets, but St. Mary’s responded with grit and determination to take the next two, 25-19 and 25-23, forcing a decisive fifth. The Voyageurs held firm under pressure, securing the match 15-11 to remain atop the standings.
Over at White Pines, the Wolverines continued their solid play with a 3-0 sweep of the Korah Colts. The Wolverines claimed the sets 25-18, 25-23, and 25-23, using strong serving and disciplined defense to shut down any potential comeback attempts by the Colts. The win moved White Pines into a tie for second place with St. Mary’s in the league standings.
As the season heads into week six, the Notre Dame Voyageurs hold first place with 12 points, while the Wolverines and Knights trail with six points apiece. The Korah Colts and Superior Heights Steelhawks each sit with two points.
Next up, the Knights will look to rebound when they travel to Korah Collegiate for a crucial matchup against the Colts on Wednesday, October 22nd, with first serve scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
