Under the lights at Superior Heights in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, the St Mary’s Knights took to the field for a 2022 semi final against the Superior Heights Steelhawks in Sault Ste Marie High School junior action.

At 7:41 of the opening quarter, Will Middaugh rushes for a one yard touchdown to give the Steelhawks a 6 – 0 lead. Dylan Wooton added the extra point with a Superior Height convert. Albert Perrault carries the ball for a five yard major to bring the Steelhawks lead to 14 – 0 after Wooton finding the uprights for his second straight convert at 8:57 of the second quarter. With 58 seconds remaining in the quarter, Amare Valente-Boateng intercepts a Steelhawk Chase Cerasuolo interception to move the ball to the Steelhawk 12 yard line after a 62 yard carry. On the next play, Koen Kurylo runs for a 12 yard carry to close the gap to seven after a Amare Valente-Boateng convert with 11.4 seconds left in the half. Nick Dearing returns a Knights’ punt for 22 yards to increase the lead to 21 – 7 after Wooton kicking his third convert of the semi final at 5:02 of the fourth. With Kurylo replacing quarterback Alex Hayes, Kurylo powers forward through the Steelhawk defensive line with 3:04 of the quarter to bring the Knights within seven with a Amare Valente-Boateng convert.

The Steelhawks take their 21 – 14 win into the junior final on October 27th at 5:45 p.m with the winner of the semi final on October 21st with the Korah Colts taking on the White Pines Wolverines in a 4:45 p.m kickoff. The junior October 21st semi final and final will be live on Saultsports TV.
