the Sports Talk with U18 World Champion Jack Matier (05.10.21)

After his return to Canada as a world champion and quarantining from the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championships in Texas, Sault Ste Marie’s Jack Matier sat down with Monico, House, and Bono on Saultsports.com ‘the Sports Talk’ to discuss the 18 year old experience in Texas representing his country in the red and black with the maple leaf across his chest for the first time in his hockey career.

As the only undefeated country and not hoisting the U18 World Championship since 2013, Team Canada came out with one goal in mind: to capture the 2021 U18 World Championship and with a following run that consisted of matches against the world’s best youth during a two-week duration, the Canadians made history in Frisco with Sault Ste Marie’s Jack Matier as part of the 2021 roster.

The 6’4″ and 205 lbs blueliner was drafted in 2019 in the first round 21st overall in the OHL Priority Draft by the Ottawa 67’s.
