On Friday, September 26th, the second-place Superior Heights Steelhawks (2-1) returned to home turf to take on the fourth-place St. Mary’s Knights (0-3) in Sault Ste. Marie High School Senior Football action.
The Steelhawks wasted no time striking first. At 3:09 of the opening quarter, Ben Tresvisanut broke free for a 30-yard touchdown run, with Dylan Wooton adding the extra point to give Superior Heights a 7-0 lead.
Late in the first half, Tresvisanut struck again, this time on a one-yard carry with just 47 seconds left on the clock. Wooton’s second successful conversion stretched the Steelhawks’ advantage to 14-0 heading into halftime.
The Knights battled back in the second half when quarterback Aaron Juma punched in a one-yard run for St. Mary’s first major of the night. Micah Cuglietta followed with the extra point to cut the deficit in half, but the Steelhawks’ defense held strong to close out a 14-7 victory.
The win boosts Superior Heights to 3-1, keeping them in the hunt near the top of the standings, while the Knights drop to 0-4 and continue to search for their first win of the season.
Looking ahead, the Knights face a daunting challenge against the undefeated Korah Colts (4-0) on Thursday, October 2nd. The Steelhawks, meanwhile, will meet the White Pines Wolverines (1-3) on Friday, October 3rd. Both games kick off at 7:30 p.m. at Superior Heights Field and will be broadcast live on SaultSports TV.
