At the John Rhodes Centre, the Korah Colts took to the ice to take on the Superior Heights Steelhawks in Sault Ste Marie High School Hockey League action on Wednesday, January 18th.
With an unassisted goal for the Steelhawks with 76 seconds remaining in the opening period, Gavin Darlow gives Superior Heights a 1 – 0 lead with a goal behind Colt netminder Troy Rossetto. Dylan Garson fires the tying goal with finding the back of Steelhawk goaltender Tyler Greco’s net to pull Korah even 1 – 1 at the 1:28 mark of the second. Kaylob Thibodeau and Owen Avery added the helpers on Garson’s tying goal. With only 36 seconds left in the period, Owen Avery sends the Colts into the second intermission up 2 – 1 with Connor Chow – Lynn and Luca Venneri notching the assists on Avery’s go-ahead goal. 22 seconds before the halfway mark of the third on a Superior Heights’ powerplay, Dylan Murphy sinks the tying goal for the Steelhawks with Ray Rumiel and Owen Case setting up Murphy’s powerplay marker. Owen Case registers his second point of the contest at 4:18 of the third for the Steelhawks third of the game to give Superior Heights a 3 – 2 lead. Clark Parker drew the lone assist on Case’s goal. With time ticking down and only nine seconds left in the game, Mason Battochio gives the Colts a 3 – 3 tie with Thibodeau and Cole Arruda drawing the contributors on Battochio’s tying goal. With no scoring in overtime, the midweek clash ended in a 3 – 3 tie.
The Colts are back in action on Thursday, January 19th when they face the St Mary’s Knights in a 3:30 p.m start at the John Rhodes while the Steelhawks take on the Knights on Sunday, January 22nd at the Memorial Gardens in a 8:00 p.m puck drop.
