Soo U15A Greyhounds Battle to Finals at 2026 Toronto Leaside March Matchup

The Soo U15A Girls Greyhounds traveled to Toronto over the March 20th to 22nd weekend to compete in the 2026 Toronto Leaside March Matchup, joining nine other U15 programs from across the province in a highly competitive showcase of talent.

The tournament opened on Friday, March 20th, with the Greyhounds getting off to a strong start. In game one, Soo edged out the host Leaside Wildcats with a tight 1-0 victory, setting the tone early with a solid defensive effort and timely scoring. In their second game of the day, the Greyhounds were narrowly defeated 1-0 by the Etobicoke Dolphins in another closely contested matchup, highlighting the parity across the tournament.

The Greyhounds found their stride on Saturday, March 21st. In game three, Soo delivered a dominant performance, shutting out the Owen Sound Ice Hawks 6-0 in their most complete effort of the weekend. The offensive explosion was backed by strong defensive play and steady goaltending. Later that day, the Greyhounds faced the Peterborough Ice Kats in game four, battling to a 2-2 draw in a hard-fought contest that showcased their resilience.

Advancing to the playoff round on Sunday, March 22nd, the Greyhounds continued their strong play in the semi-final. Soo controlled the game from start to finish, earning a convincing 4-0 win over the Durham West Lightning to secure their spot in the championship game.

In the final, the Greyhounds faced the Leaside Wildcats once again in a rematch of their tournament opener. Despite a strong effort, Soo was unable to find the back of the net, falling 2-0 to the Wildcats and finishing the tournament with a well-earned silver medal.

Soo Greyhound U15A roster includes Fiona Prophet, Aislynn Wieczor, Lucy Curran, Mya Sewell, Drew Rousselle, Ayla Plotycia, Gabriella Pierman, Averie Atkinson, Patricia Lesage-Wright, Leah Vilaca, Ava Mount, Lily Sims, Keeley Brown, Madison Lang, Sienna Crosby, and Nilahna Neveau.

The weekend proved to be a successful outing for the Soo U15A Girls Greyhounds, who demonstrated strong teamwork, defensive structure, and offensive capability throughout the tournament. Their run to the championship game against top competition from across Ontario is a testament to the group’s growth and determination as they continue their season.
