Three wins, two shutouts and a weekend that showed the Sault belongs on October 16 and 17, 2026.
We travelled south looking for competition.
We came home with a statement.
Our Soo Jr. Greyhounds U15AA Girls put together a remarkable weekend of hockey in Southern Ontario, finishing 3–1 against some of the province’s strongest and most highly rated teams.
From Brampton to Aurora, Mississauga and Milton, the Greyhounds faced four physical, fast-paced games — and never backed down.
This wasn’t just about the wins.
It was about proving that a hardworking girls’ hockey team from the Sault can travel into some of the toughest hockey territory in Ontario and compete — and compete with confidence.
GAME 1 | Greyhounds 3 — Brampton Canadettes 1
The weekend opened against the U15AA Brampton Canadettes, and the Girls wasted no time showing what we had come to do.
Shift after shift, our Greyhound girls dug in along the boards, fought for loose pucks and supported one another throughout the game.
When the final whistle sounded, the Soo had earned a hard-fought 3–1 victory.
One down. Three to go.
GAME 2 | Greyhounds 3 — Central York Panthers 0
The Greyhounds’ second test came against the Central York Panthers, another highly regarded Southern Ontario program.
And once again, the girls answered the challenge.
The Greyhounds were relentless defensively, making life difficult for the Panthers and refusing to give up second opportunities.
The result was a statement of its own:
A 3–0 Soo shutout.
The Greyhounds were now rolling — and the competition wasn’t getting any easier.
GAME 3 | Greyhounds 2 — Etobicoke Dolphins 0
By game three, fatigue could have become a factor.
Instead, the Greyhounds dug deeper.
Against the Etobicoke Dolphins, the Soo continued to play with determination and discipline. Scoring three lone goals to stake the win.
GAME 4 | Halton Hills Twisters 3 — Greyhounds 1
The final game of the weekend brought the Halton Hills Twisters.
After three demanding games, the Greyhounds had every reason to be tired.
But tired didn’t mean finished.
The Soo continued to battle, competing hard through every shift and refusing to quit.
The Twisters ultimately came away with a 3–1 victory, handing the Greyhounds their only loss of the weekend.
But even in defeat, the Soo showed exactly what had defined the weekend — fight, determination and character.
A Weekend That Means Something
For the Soo Jr. Greyhounds U15AA Girls, the numbers tell an impressive story:
4 games.
3 wins.
2 shutouts.
Only 4 goals allowed.
But the numbers don’t tell the whole story.
What stood out was the way this group competed against some of the top-rated girls’ hockey teams they will face this season.
They weren’t intimidated.
They didn’t back down.
That is what makes this group special.
They’re a hardworking crew from the Sault — and this weekend, they showed Southern Ontario that they can play.
For a team that travelled a long way to test itself against some of the best, the message was loud and clear:
The Soo Jr. Greyhounds U15AA Girls are here to compete.
And if this weekend is any indication, this team is just getting started.
